Our services

For every business with an interest in sustainability, cutting carbon, cutting costs and being progressive, we have a range of services to help.

Carbon Reduction Plans

A Carbon Reduction Plan is the backbone to a business's sustainability agenda and actions. All actions a business takes hang off this, be it recycling, using energy more efficiently or product sourcing. It is all measurable.

EPDs and Lifetime Carbon Assessment

An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a standardized document that transparently reports the environmental impact of a product throughout its life cycle, from raw material extraction to disposal.

Training

Making any business truly sustainable requires more than just reports, strategies and certificates. Change is required, and that change has to be driven by the business leaders, and permeate throughout the business.

Solutions

Having a sustainability plan is one thing, but being able to implement it is another. We know that for most SMEs, the person with the responsibility for sustainability will have a day job to do as well. Moreover, they may not have the required technical knowledge.

Carbon Reduction Plans

Carbon Reduction Plans are increasingly being mandated by many major public and private sector buyers, as a pass / fail requirement for suppliers.

Carbon Reduction Plans (CRPs) reflect the starting point of a business’s carbon footprint, and how that will reduce year-on-year as the result of specific decarbonisation actions taken by a business.

We have delivered Carbon Reduction plans for well over one hundred businesses in all sectors and of all sizes.

We pride ourselves in the quality, level of detail and relevance of our Carbon Reduction Plans:

  • They are NOT generic AI generated, but produced by our real experts in the field, specific to each individual business.
  • We offer site visits and energy surveys in order to better inform the process, and provide site-specific advice.
  • They feature specific, not generic, action points, each of which will have a measurable and timely impact on carbon emissions.
  • The setting of targets is collaborative. It is important that our clients ‘own’ the targets and reduction trajectory.
  • Our technical expertise, and insight into technological developments, mean that we can always recommend the most suitable low carbon technology now and in the future.
  • We deploy the most suitable Carbon Intensity metrics for the business, and can analyse multiple metrics.
  • We are not limited to using a single conversion database, so can most accurately analyse a wide variety of inputs.
  • Our Carbon Reduction Plans exceed the technical standard set out Cabinet Office policy note PPN0621, and we have the flexibility to meet any required standard or requirement.

EPDs and Lifetime Carbon Assessment

An EPD is based on a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and provides information on resource consumption, energy use, waste generation, and emissions. EPDs are widely used in the construction industry to inform Whole Life Carbon Assessments (WLCA) of buildings and infrastructure.

  • Purpose:

EPDs help quantify the environmental impact of a product by considering all stages of its life cycle.

  • Standardization:

EPDs are standardized to ensure consistency and comparability across different products and materials, as per EN 15804, ISO 14025, and other relevant international standards.

  • Life Cycle Assessment (LCA):

The data in an EPD is derived from an LCA, which analyzes the environmental effects of a product from “cradle to grave”.

  • Data Coverage:

EPDs provide information on various environmental indicators, including resource consumption, energy use, waste generation, and emissions to air, water, and soil.

  • Usage in Construction:

EPDs are a key input for Whole Life Carbon Assessments (WLCA) of buildings, helping to understand the overall carbon footprint of a project.

  • Benefits:

EPDs promote transparency and environmental accountability, encouraging companies to improve their products’ sustainability. They are also used for green procurement and certification schemes.

  • Verification:

Independent third-party verification ensures the accuracy and reliability of the EPD, making it a credible tool for environmental decision-making.

Training

We prefer to use the Carbon Literacy Project training framework as our preferred training offering. It is tiered approach to taking a company’s senior management team and owners, and giving them the tools to embed and communicate sustainability throughout their business.

Carbon Literacy® is a term used to describe an awareness of climate change, and the climate impacts of mankind’s everyday actions.

Learners who have completed a day’s worth of Carbon Literacy learning can be certified as ‘Carbon Literate’. We deliver our sessions in two half-day sessions, with follow-up support. Our preference is to take a small group of six to eight senior leaders and owners. We give them the knowledge and tools with which is communicate and embed the principles of sustainability throughout the organisation.

Businesses that have a Carbon Literate workforce can be accredited by the Project team as a ‘Carbon Literate Organisation’ (CLO).

Our Carbon Reduction Plans give our clients the framework for becoming more sustainable. This training ensures that all of the workforce can engage in the process of delivery.

Solutions

All of our team have career backgrounds in Science, Engineering and Technology. This means that we have the skills and knowledge required to implement and manage the physical changes involved in decarbonising a business and becoming more sustainable.

Moreover, if those changes require external financing, we can signpost and facilitate grants and loan schemes.

Examples of how we’ve supported implementation include:

  • Conducting solar PV outline system specification, gathering supplier quotes, and helping clients compare.
  • Assisting with B Corp certification
  • Analysing a company’s van fleet, and vehicle by vehicle, assessing the suitability of EV replacement and measuring the associated carbon reduction impact.
  • Investigating out-of-hours electricity consumption and identifying inefficiencies in refrigeration equipment.
  • Assessing low carbon alternative heating solutions.
  • Investigating options for low carbon temporary off-grid power supply.
  • Researching options for reducing waste disposal costs by adding value to waste streams
  • Advising on biodiversity improvements for a factory site
  • Sometimes the solutions are very simple, like helping a client understand how their heating controls work. This simple measure will cut around 8-10% from their heating bill.

We aim to support all of our clients on their journey. Because all of our team sit across the clean technology sphere, we’re the first to hear about new technology and techniques, and we always pass that knowledge and wisdom on to our clients.
