What we’ve been doing in 2025 for the nation’s SMEs.
We’ve had another busy year supporting businesses across the country in becoming more sustainable, understanding and reducing their carbon footprint, and complying with procurement requirements.
Carbon Reduction Planning. Either renewing previous years plans, or starting new, this has been the backbone of our work. If you want to act on sustainability, you must measure your starting point. ‘If you don’t measure, you can’t manage’. We’ve worked with businesses from the South Coast to the North of England, in literally all sectors.
Carbon Literacy Training. We gained certified Carbon Literacy Trainer status this year, and have begun to roll out this service.
Shropshire Net Zero Leaders. December 2025 sees the end of our Government funded Shropshire Net Zero Leaders programme. Since Autumn 2023 we’ve supported over 40 businesses in Shropshire with deep dive carbon emission analysis and support and mentoring in delivering a carbon reduction action plan. A number of the businesses involved have continued to engage with our Net Zero Leaders Network, sharing their experience and knowledge with their piers.
Worcestershire Professional Business Advisors. For the fourth year running, we’ve worked with Worcestershire County Council and the Worcestershire Growth Hub as the sustainability and energy lead partners supporting SMEs in all matters of sustainability and energy reduction.
Challenges and solutions. The diversity of our client base throws up some unusual and unique sustainability challenges. This year, these have included:
- Dealing with an excess of horse manure
- Decarbonising a vineyard machinery fleet
- On-site processing of restaurant food waste
- Measuring the carbon footprint of over 100 individual industrial-scale food ingredients

- The manufacture of shower trays and wet-rooms
- Commercial landscaping
- Furniture manufacture
- Housebuilding and renovation
